The Return of Competition Season

The competitions for the Park Hill South Dance were performed virtually last year due to COVID, but they were able to safely return to the dance floor this year.

Their first competition for the 2021-2022 season was on December 11th at Liberty High School. The team placed first in Hip Hop and second in Lyrical Jazz, and had 6 solos and a duet place overall.

The South Side Girls have started the season off strong, and their next competition will be at Lee’s Summit North on January 21st and 22nd.

Anne Green, a sophomore, was extremely excited about her first competition. She said, ”I was so ready to compete at a real competition after filming our dances last year. Nothing is like competing in a packed gym surrounded by your teammates. It is the best feeling to walk out on the floor and absolutely kill a dance.”

Even though Green was excited, she was also nervous about the new experience, she added,” It is definitely nerve-racking at first as you have that kick of adrenaline. At a real competition, you can’t restart like you can when filming.”

We are so excited to cheer for our South Side Girls throughout the 2021-2022 competition season!
