Things to look forward to
The past 10 or so months have been confusing and at times saddening and there’s no denying that. But now finally, there are things to look forward to. The widespread vaccination of the country and the eventual, gradual return to the life we knew is coming soon. With that, comes a whole slew of readjustments we’ll have to make. Can you imagine walking out of your house without your mask in your pocket right now, Or what about the social distancing guidelines and sanitization policies that soon may vanish everywhere except our collective conscience?
These are all things we should look forward to because they are similar to breaking a bad habit, where the reason you do it is because of something less innocent and more traumatic. The end of these little habits we have all formed out of necessity signals a larger step forward in the journey back to a normal life for us all.
Now all of that is great, but we’re also forgetting the holidays we are (in theory) going to be able to enjoy this year. Overall, 2021 is slated to be our first year in recovery and should prove to be exponentially better than 2020. That is a fairly low bar, yes, but still we must be optimistic. We are still in the thick of this pandemic right now and things have predictably been getting worse in anticipation of things getting better.
As High school students we have more than the average person when it comes to optimism about our future. Looking on the Brightside, we should all get to enjoy our college years to the fullest. The past year or so has been full of question marks, worries, controversy and division amongst people but I think the ending to one of the worst periods in American history could relieve a good amount of the tension and stress built up.
