Traffic Changes With New Hybrid Schedule
One year ago, students scrambled to get out of their house in time, just to realize the only parking available was back row academic.
Many alumni and upperclassmen can agree that in past years the traffic to and from school has always been an issue. Even finding a parking spot 10 minutes before school was a common dilemma.
“I have noticed with the new schedule that the traffic has died down a lot. The parking lots are much more open which I love.” Payton Padilla, junior, said.
This year, with the hybrid schedule, the number of student drivers has been cut in half. Meaning that students are no longer going through the stress of leaving on time and taking their strategic routes.
“Knowing only half the students are at school at a time, traffic hasn’t been a problem.” Max Pawela, senior, said.
Last year we had many students involved in car accidents going through downtown parkville on their way to and from school. Now with not as many cars traveling at one time, we have yet to have one in the area before or after school.
South has also changed the way they dismiss students this year. Different classrooms are released in 5 minute inquiries from 2:50 to 3 pm. This allows students to leave in their cars at different times.
“Personally I think by letting students out in waves makes a huge difference with traffic. It really reduces the stress of having to sprint across the whole school to be out first.” Ella Fosnough, junior, said.
Students can now get to school 5 minutes before start time and park in any lot they prefer. Less hassle, less stress, less issues!
