What Happened to Monday Movie Review

Have you ever wondered what life would be like in 50 years? The sci-fi thriller “What Happened to Monday” gives you a futuristic and dark tale of the life of seven sisters who all have to live under the same identity due to a strict one-child policy.

In the year 2073, Septuplets were born in a world where each family can only have one child due to overpopulation. Scientists made “super crops” to help grow food quicker in hopes to improve the food shortages. The new crop isn’t as helpful as it seems, for it also increases fertility creating an even larger population. The government soon comes up with a new solution called Cryosleep. Cryosleep is a plan to freeze the extra children a family may have and wake them up again in a better world.

In order to avoid Cryosleep, the sisters grow up under the same identity, Karen Settmen, to be able to survive and grow up together in the same world. They are all named after a day of the week and each sibling gets to go out into the world on their day of the week. Monday goes out on Monday, Tuesday goes out of Tuesdays, and so on.

30 years later their act is still going, but when one of the sisters goes missing, the other six will do whatever it takes to get her back.

I would give this movie a 6/10. The concept of the movie was very entertaining but the execution of the film could have been stronger. The actress who played all seven girls, Noomi Rapace, did an excellent job portraying so many personalities. There were a few plot holes during the movie but many of them did come together in the end. Netflix films are always a hit or miss and this one lies somewhere in between. Overall, What Happened to Monday was enjoyable and kept me on my toes.

If you would like to see this action-packed movie, it can be streamed at home on Netflix.
