Ghostbusters movie review
If you know me, you know I am an 80’s fanatic. I love anything retro, so I love watching old movies, especially movies from the 80’s. I’ve seen just about every one in the book, but I realized this Halloween season, there was one classic film I was missing out on; I had never seen Ghostbusters. I know I know it’s crazy; me, Annie Woodson, the old lady old soul born in the wrong decade Annie, has never seen one of the most iconic 80’s movies of all time. I decided I couldn’t live like this any longer, and needed to watch this classic film, and what better time to watch it than around Halloween time!
The first thing I have to say about the film is that I think it is extremely overrated. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy it, but I think I only enjoyed it because I know it’s an iconic movie, but if it wasn’t so famous, I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed it as much. I know it was fantastic for it’s time, which is why it’s so popular now, and is what I liked about it, but all I have to say is this not on my list of the top 20 greatest movies.
The actors in the film are amazing, which made me like the movie 10x more, and it was super cool seeing them at a younger age compared to their age now. The storyline was really good, but I thought it was kind of hard to keep up with it and that it was kind of confusing. I mean I understood what was happening, but it would take me a minute to figure out what had just happened when they would switch from one scene to the next, which they did a lot.
Overall I sort of liked this movie and I sort of didn’t… if that makes any sense. I liked the actors and story line, but I wasn’t a huge fan of how they put it together. It was funny and had great special effects for that time, which is super impressive. I would give this movie and 3 out of 5 star rating; it was a little cheesy and cliche, but that’s how most 80’s films are, and that’s what makes them so good!
