Wins for Wilmes

Touchdown, panthers! The Park Hill South football team has had a season of success so far, on and off the field. Currently, the six wins two loss team have taken the area by storm, recently being named conference champions.

The cherry on top of this season is the coaching staff, specifically head coach Alan Wilmes leading the team to all their wins.

“He (Wilmes) has been doing great, he’s driven us to progress as players and as well as students,” Mudia Reuben, junior, said.

Wilmes was recently named the Chiefs High School Coach of the Week. He had a surprise visit from chiefs ambassador and former linebacker Gary Spani last week. Since he won the weekly honor, he is now up for Chiefs High School Coach of the Year. The prestigious award is given at the end of the high school season and playoffs.

“We’re super excited for him (Wilmes) to lead us as a team through the playouts and hopefully to state, Reuben said.

Reuben along with the rest of the team have been proud of their three win streak: First beating Staley, NKC, and this past weekend Lee’s Summit. The future is bright for these panthers.
